Thanks to the hospitality of Microsoft Cyprus(especially Mr. Savvas
Kounnis), the first User Group event was successful. According to the
number of attendees
Two excellent sessions presented by Chad Z. Hower received more than
expected feedback from the rest of the (mostly) members’ audience.
In the first session, Chad explained most of the controversies new
developers had about .NET using few comparison methods with VB 6 and C++,
and later in the session, the comparison with Java.
Second session was geared towards ADO.NET, starting with brief
introduction to .NET version of well-known ADO 2.6, quickly followed by
advanced methods of using full power of ADO, as well as few design
misconceptions related to Multi-tier architectures, Stored Procedures, SQL
and storage in general. Second part of the session triggered few
contra-arguments from the audience and discussion had taken its way. It
was definitely a great experience for any developer dealing with
databases.
After the sessions, short organizational meeting took place at
Starbucks, Nicosia where it was decided to draw down the plan of the
future events and eventual involvement of Microsoft as a potential sponsor
of the events.
For the time being we will just say ... brace yourself for "Cyprus .NET
Momentum"!!!
