Event November 2010
Date: 24/11/2010, Nicosia Members Present: 8 Location: Microsoft Cyprus Office Presentations: Clustering in SQL Server 2008 / Microsoft and Openness
Many thanks to the hospitality and support of Microsoft Cyprus, for hosting our User Group's last offline event before Christmas holidays!
The event featured two sessions. The first session, dedicated to SQL Server 2008 Clustering was presented by Michael Theodoulou (MCITP: SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator, DBA Team Leader). The second session was preseneted by Andreas Hadjipanayi (Technical Account Manager at the local Microsoft Office in Cyprus).
So, after having some fun by trying out Microsoft's Kinect our event started! The first speaker, Michael, started talking about Clustering in SQL Server 2008:

The session was very interesting as Business Continuity is always a hot topic!

Michael's session, among other, featured a full live demo on how we can set up a SQL Server 2008 Cluster:

After Michael's session completed, Andreas started presenting his session and explained how Microsoft has become more open through the years:

Among other, he also mentioned that Microsoft runs an Open Source Technology Center!

Another event took place here at CDNUG. As 2011 approaches we are in the process of planning more events in order to give the chance to fellow Community members in Cyprus to get even more educated on the latest Microsoft Technologies such as .NET 4, Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server 2011 and much more! From all of us here at CDNUG, we wish you a happy new year 2011 and see you soon at our next event in January 2011!
