Presentation: Introduction to ASP .NET AJAX

Many thanks to the hospitality and support of Microsoft Cyprus, for hosting the first event of CDNUG for the year 2009.

Well, we started the year very well! Having as a special guest speaker Karl Davies-Barrett, Developer Platform Evangelist (Microsoft Malta & Cyprus) we  managed to have an event dedicated to Web Development and specifically to ASP .NET AJAX.

The event started with a keynote by Artemakis Artemiou, the CDNUG leader, who talked about the upcoming activities of the User Group for the year 2009 and other relevant topics. He also introduced Karl to the attendees and provided a short description of the event's topic.

In a very interesting session Karl Davies-Barrett introduced to the members of the User Group the ASP .NET AJAX. AJAX stands for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. The goals of ASP .NET AJAX are the following:

• Create a high-productivity platform for AJAX-style browser applications
• Seamlessly integrate with the Microsoft platform and application model
• Enable world-class tools for AJAX-style application development
• Deliver ubiquitous reach with friction-free deployment and administration

Throughout the presentation, demos and discussion, Karl explained to the members of the User Group how it is possible to build better Internet Applications bu utilizing AJAX, ASP .NET and Visual Studio technologies.

The User Group members found the session very interesting and right after the presentation finished, a discussion followed.
