Presentation: SQL Server 2008: An overview for Developers and IT Pros

Thanks to the hospitality of Microsoft Cyprus, for hosting the final event of CDNUG for the year 2008.

In a very interesting session Artemakis Artemiou explained to the members of the group some of the most significant new features in SQL Server 2008 for both developers and IT Professionals. Members were amazed by these new features. The event should last for an hour and lasted for two due to the really interesting discussions on topics such as: Policy-Based Management, Row Constructors, Table-Valued Parameters (TVPs), the new HierarchyID data type and much more.

Artemakis also performed many demos on the new features of SQL Server 2008 thus demonstrating possibile ways of utilizing them.

Some of the topics presented will be soon explained in more detail in subsequent community events. These topics may include the ADO .Net Entity Framework, LINQ to SQL and much more!
