Event No.19 - Windows 7 Development Using Managed Code / SQL Server 2008 R2: Features for Developers and IT Pros It’s July and the weather is quite hot in Cyprus! CDNUG, as always, welcomes summer holidays with a celebratory event. On July 15th we will be having our last Community Night before summer holidays. This event is dedicated to two very interesting Microsoft technologies; Windows 7 and SQL Server 2008 R2. The event starts at 19:00 and finishes at 21:00. In the first session, Ioannis Stavrinides (MCP, MCTS), active member of our User Group will talk about Windows 7 Development using managed code. In the second session, Artemakis Artemiou (MCP, MCTS, MCITP), our User Group Lead, INETA Country Lead for Cyprus and SQL Server MVP, will introduce the features of SQL Server 2008 R2 for Developers and IT Pros.
Event No.18 - ASP.NET 4.0 Some time ago Microsoft Framework 4.0 was released. Taken this opportunity, this month's event will be dedicated to ASP.NET 4.0! During this session, Panagiotis Charalambous, MCSD, MCDBA, MCPD, MCITP, MCTS and active member of our User Group will present ASP.NET 4.0 and talk about the new features of this release of ASP.NET.

Event No.17 - Visual Studio 2010 - Windows Azure Platform It is time to return back to our regular CDNUG Community Nights now that the summer holidays are over. As this is our first offline event after summer holidays, we decided to make it special; it features two great speakers and two great topics! To this end we have the pleasure to host two hourly sessions on two very interesting technologies. In the first session, Karl Davies-Barrett, Developer Platform Evangelist at Microsoft Malta & Cyprus and great friend of CDNUG, will talk about Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Beta and will demonstrate all of its great new features. In the second session, Luka Debeljak, CEE DPE Regional Technical Lead at Microsoft Corporation, will introduce to us the Microsoft Windows Azure Platform from a developer’s perspective.
Live Webcast - SQL Server 2008 Programmability: T-SQL Enhancements This time we are trying something different; a Live Webcast! In this Live Webcast, Artemakis Artemiou (our User Group Lead, SQL Server MVP and INETA-Europe Country Leader for Cyprus) will talk about the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 programmability features and more specifically about the T-SQL Enhancements. By attending the webcast you can learn how the T-SQL enhancements in SQL Server 2008 enable the developer to be more productive and to create robust database solutions even easier!
Event No.15 - ADO .NET Data Services - Visual Studio 2010 It is time for another CDNUG event! This event will probably be the last event of CDNUG before summer holidays. The next event will take place next September.
To this end, the CDNUG committee decided that this event should feature a variety of .NET and SQL Server Technologies thus providing a taste of all their great features.
This month’s event will have two hourly sessions. In the first session, Artemakis Artemiou (SQL Server MVP and CDNUG Lead) will talk about the ADO .NET Data Services with focus on the Web. In the second session, Karl Davies-Barrett (Developer Platform Evangelist for Microsoft Malta & Cyprus and great friend of our User Group) will present Visual Studio 2010.
Event No.14 - Microsoft SharePoint Feature Areas Using intranet portals within the organization and various other internet portals on the World Wide Web has become the modern way of collaboration, learning, process and document management in our days. Microsoft SharePoint technologies are a collection of products and software elements that allow building all of the above and even more. They can be used for hosting websites that access shared workspaces and documents. Additionally, they allow the users to manipulate various controls known as “web parts” and much more. Cyprus .NET User Group, committed to the .NET and SQL Server community in Cyprus, continues its regular monthly events and dedicates this month’s event to Microsoft SharePoint technologies with focus on the SharePoint Feature Areas. The speaker is Evangelos Hadjichristodoulou, Services Consultant at Microsoft Cyprus.
Event No.13 - The ADO .NET Entity Framework and LINQ to Entities In Cyprus, March was and still is an eventful month. In March 16, many of us attended Momentum 2009 Heroes RELOADED; the official Microsoft Cyprus event for both IT Pros and Developers. With one track for IT Pros and another one for Developers, some really interesting sessions discussed about new, enhanced, and emerging Microsoft technologies. Some of the technologies featured in the Developers track are: ADO.NET, Entity Framework, LINQ, Sync Framework, Azure, ADO.NET Data Services, WCF, WF, WPF, ASP.NET, AJAX, and much more! Cyprus .NET User Group, committed to the .NET and SQL Server community in Cyprus, continues its regular monthly events and dedicates this month’s event to the ADO .NET Entity Framework and LINQ to Entities technologies. These two correlated topics were presented in the Momentum 2009 event. With this month’s event, we continue our study on these technologies through a deep-dive session, discussing and demonstrating how we can fully utilize them, interact with them and take advantage of their features in order to make it possible designing and developing database applications in Visual Studio 2008 with Reliable and Scalable Data Access. The speaker is Artemakis Artemiou, our User Group lead.
Event No.12 - Intro to AJAX .NET We have entered the New Year 2009. During this year the main purpose of our user group, is to have a big number of events focusing on the various .NET and related technologies and especially on Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and SQL Server 2008. To this end, regular monthly events will be scheduled and be publicly available for developers and other interested parties. With speakers from within our user group and also with invited guest speakers, we will try to cover many interesting topics. This twelfth event will be featured in one interesting session. The topic is “Intro to AJAX .NET” with level 100-200. The duration of the event will be two hours; an hour for the presentation and another hour for questions/answers and further discussion.

Event No 8 In this session, Panayiotis will cover the basics of how to build navigation structures and render the information as well as to give some useful tips and techniques developers can utilize in their projects.

Sixth Event "ClickOnce" is a new application deployment technology that is introduced with Visual Studio 2005 and .NET 2.0, that makes deploying a Windows Forms based application as easy as deploying a web application
Fifth Event Another Professional Developers Conference is behind us with the pile of new and interesting technology glimpses, enough to take weeks of your time for at least serious review of some of them. Beside the goliaths that marked this year�s PDC like Vista, Avalon, Indigo, LINQ and others, an announcement that seems to pick everybody�s attention is Windows Workflow Foundation � the programming model, engine and set of tools for fast building workflow enabled applications on Windows. This time we will have the group president Evangelos Hadjichristodoulou speaking about why we should think of WWF and what it can bring to us developers.
Fourth Event After pretty hot August and (for the lucky ones) refreshing and relaxing holidays � we are back to meet again in our journey through .NET technologies. With something that you may got used already, this fourth event will be featured with two sessions � first one getting into the guts of an interesting approach to component based scalable applications design, presented by one of CDNUG�s newcomer members � Cosmin Onea. Second session will focus on new ways of solving old kind of problems when dealing with Applications settings in .NET, in another exciting show-up by the group President and Co-Founder � Chad Z. Hower aka Kudzu.
Third Event The Third CDNUG meeting will include two sessions provided by the group president Chad Z. Hower aka Kudzu. First session named ADO.NET: Databinding, Best Practices and Pitfalls suppose to clear the dust around effective usage of .NET database access layer; second session will give an insight to the web application development framework IntraWeb by Atozed Software and it�s coexistence with ASP.NET.
Second Event Following the success of our first Premiere .NET Event that took place on 19th of May, CDNUG is about to continue the quest pointed towards the .NET technologies. This time, audience will be presented with two sessions: first one will be introduction to Mono, an Open Source implementation of the .NET Framework, following with the advanced level session discussing Enterprise Solution Patterns.
