Event No. 15
It is time for another CDNUG event! This event will probably be the last event of CDNUG before summer holidays. The next event will take place next September.
To this end, the CDNUG committee decided that this event should feature a variety of .NET and SQL Server Technologies thus providing a taste of all their great features.
This month’s event will have two hourly sessions. In the first session, Artemakis Artemiou (SQL Server MVP and CDNUG Lead) will talk about the ADO .NET Data Services with focus on the Web. In the second session, Karl Davies-Barrett (Developer Platform Evangelist for Microsoft Malta & Cyprus and great friend of our User Group) will present Visual Studio 2010.
ADO .NET Data Services for the Web

In this session we are going to explore the ADO.NET Data Services Framework. This framework offers up innovative ways to solve a set of problems that many applications, especially web applications, face in today’s environments.
We will first start at the conceptual layer and deal with what problems ADO.NET Data Services is trying to solve. We will then jump into an existing service and play around with it to see how it looks and what it can do. We will also discuss what is going under the surface and what some of the standards involved are.
After this, we will create a service from scratch on the server along with some clients to consume the service. This will allows us to see the end-to-end approach across the data services framework.
Visual Studio 2010: A First Look

Visual Studio 2010 will provide the .NET developer with a huge variety of new enhancements in areas such as: Application Lifecycle Management, Developer Experience, Cloud Development, Web Development and last but not least, Parallel Programming. We will see live demonstrations featuring these great features and showing how they can enable the developer to be more productive and do more with less.
An event will take place on Thursday, June 18th, 2009 at the
conference room of Microsoft Cyprus, with start at 19:00.
