Fourth Event
After pretty hot August and (for the lucky ones) refreshing and
relaxing holidays – we are back to meet again in our journey through .NET
technologies. With something that you may got used already, this
fourth event will be featured with two sessions – first one getting into
the guts of an interesting approach to component based scalable
applications design, presented by one of CDNUG’s newcomer members – Cosmin
Onea. Second session will focus on new ways of solving old kind of
problems when dealing with Applications settings in .NET, in another
exciting show-up by the group President and Co-Founder – Chad Z. Hower aka
Kudzu.
Introduction to Rockford Lhotka’s Business Objects Framework
(by Cosmin Onea)
One of the primary goals in creating a framework is to simplify .NET
development, software development in general rather. Developers using a
framework don't need to worry about the details of underlying technologies
such as remoting, serialization, or auto-deployment. All of these are
embedded in the framework, so that a developer using it can focus almost
entirely on business logic and application design, rather than getting
caught up in ‘plumbing’ issues. The focus of this framework is on
component based scalable applications. It provides high performance and
scalability and still employs object oriented techniques in a distributed
environment along with security support for both windows and custom
security scheme. Technologies that are used by this framework are very
common to .NET developers and include: remoting, serialization, enterprise
services, reflection, attributes, role-based security and ADO.NET.
Application Setting the .NET way INI, Registry or XML
(by Chad Z. Hower)
INI files and the registry are generally things of the past for .NET
applications. But, what to use? XML seems appropriate, but one look at
System.XML is enough to intimidate most developers, especially just to
store a few fields. Fortunately, there is a very easy way in .NET to solve
this, but one that is usually not seen by developers. This session
explains how you can easily store and retrieve your application settings
with simply a few lines of code, and using only built-in FCL classes.
An event will take place on Wednesday, September 7th at the conference
hall of local Microsoft offices in Nicosia, with start at 18:30. For
